OEUK Well Decommissioning Guidelines Issue 7
The Guidelines for Decommissioning of Wells, issued by OEUK, have been produced by the Well Decommissioning workgroup of the OEUK Wells Forum.
This document provides industry recommendations and good practice for well decommissioning based on recent North Sea experience. The contents of the document have been developed by an OEUK Workgroup who have reviewed the existing literature and have identified areas where current practice and experience has moved beyond the published guidance to a sufficient degree, or is not covered in existing guidance that it was deemed necessary to record the changes in this publication. This document is aimed at the well engineer but contains information relevant to all disciplines and management involved in well decommissioning.
OEUK Use of Barrier Materials in Well Decommissioning Guidelines Issue 3
The Guidelines on the use of Barrier Materials in Well Decommissioning, issued by OEUK (Offshore Energies UK), have been produced by the Barrier Materials workgroup of the OEUK Wells Forum.
These guidelines have been previously published as the Guidelines on Qualification of Materials for the Abandonment of Wells Issue 2, and “well abandonment” is now referred to as “well decommissioning” where appropriate. This Document provides guidance and a methodology for selecting suitable barrier materials that can be used in a well decommissioning barrier envelope. This document is aimed at well engineers and technology developers but contains information relevant to all disciplines and management involved in well decommissioning.
OEUK Well Decommissioning for CO2 Storage Guidelines
The Well Decommissioning for CO2 Storage Guidelines, issued by OEUK, have been developed in response to an action set by BEIS to the UK offshore oil and gas industry, as noted in the ‘Re-use of oil and gas assets for carbon capture usage and storage projects’ consultation response 2020 document [Carbon capture, usage and storage: government response on re-use of oil and gas assets for CCUS (publishing.service.gov.uk)].
This document provides industry recommendations and emerging good practice for well decommissioning for CO2 storage based on recent North Sea and international experience in CO2 storage.
These guidelines are intended to supplement the OEUK Well Decommissioning Guideline Issue 7. These guidelines have been prepared to support well operators and well engineers on the considerations that are needed for decommissioning a well to retain the integrity of a future CO2 store. Furthermore, this guideline will also support future CO2 storage operators on the considerations that are needed to assess the integrity of inherited legacy wells.
