UK approves Equinor’s Rosebank field development plan

27 September 2023

Upstream regulator North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) has approved Norwegian state producer Equinor and partner Ithaca’s field development plan for Rosebank (image courtesy Equinor), north-west of Shetland, it said September 27. The approval follows acceptance of the partners’ environmental statement.

The partners’ field development plan meets with the NSTA’s published guidance, taking net zero considerations into account throughout the project’s lifecycle, the NSTA said.

Equinor, which has taken final investment decision, said: “This development further strengthens our international business, and we look forward to collaborating closely with our partner and suppliers to develop and operate Rosebank with the lowest possible carbon footprint while bringing the maximum value to society in the shape of UK investment, local jobs and energy security.”
