Event Overview

To meet ambitious national and global emissions reduction targets, engineering organisations are increasingly looking towards Carbon Capture and Storage technology in order to reduce their overall CO2 output. This seminar will explore the engineering challenges which must be addressed throughout the end-to-end CCUS process, from the point of emission, through transportation, and finally at storage.

The process of capturing carbon as it is emitted is generally well understood. However, the physical footprint of the equipment/installation for this process and it’s lack of mobility make it currently not well suited to emitters located in difficult geographies or offshore. Furthermore, CO2 and the impurities contained therein pose significant risks to the materials traditionally used in gas transport and thus require the redesign or retrofitting of existing infrastructure. Steps must also be taken to repurpose existing energy infrastructure for the geological storage of carbon – ensuring the structural integrity and safety of mature installations.

Throughout this programme, an emphasis will be placed on delivering the technology safely and with thought given to other sustainability considerations, financial, societal, and ecological.

The event will feature case-study presentations representing the entire CCUS value chain, exploring the development and application of technologies to support organisations as they undergo this seismic transmission. Furthermore, it offers a key opportunity for engineers to network and share their own experiences in this space, helping the community collaborate to deliver critical projects.

Join this event to:

  • Hear from government and regulators to better understand the prevailing policy and safety expectations shaping the CCUS landscape
  • See case studies from engineers at the forefront of capture, transport, and storage implementation
  • Gain insights from technical experts exploring the materials and integrity challenge inherent to working with CO2
  • Connect with counterparts from across the CCUS value chain
  • Ensure your organisation is ready to safely scale-up carbon capture to meet regulatory and environmental expectations into the future
  • Benchmark your CCUS technology roadmap against the progress and plans of leading companies in the space
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with partners on the delivery of CCUS projects

Co-located event – access two events in one location:

This seminar is co-located with the Institution’s Fit-For-Service Pressure Systems for the Energy Transition seminar. Attendees to either seminar will have access to shared networking opportunities throughout the day. Attendees will receive copies of the slides from both seminars post-event.

Maximise your organisation’s learning and networking opportunities for your organisation! Companies sending three delegates across both events are eligible for a 10% discount on registration, and those sending four or more delegates will receive a 15% discount.
