Event Overview
Future of the North Sea
Join us at our second Young Professional event of the year on the 29th of May in the OEUK Aberdeen Office. The event is aimed at those in the early stages of their career in the offshore energy industry. This event will explore the opportunities for the future of the North Sea. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from senior industry leaders and will be chaired by Mimi Nandhla, Government Relations Adviser, OEUK.
A strong domestic offshore energy sector is critical to maintaining control over our future. Today, the UK produces around 60% of its energy needs and 75% of our total energy consumption still comes from oil and gas.
The Climate Change Committee has estimated that the UK will used 13-15 billion barrels of oil and gas from today to 2050. With supportive policy the North Sea could meet half of that demand delivering an estimated £350 billion of value in our economy, supporting jobs, energy security, accelerating renewables and supporting the very supply chain companies needed for future investment in continued oil and gas as well as offshore wind, carbon storage, and hydrogen.
Decisions made will shape the future of our world-class offshore energy sector impacting industries, jobs and communities across the country. The Future of the North Sea matters to all of us.
