Skills summit to address energy industry’s growing appetite for talent
The energy industry is at the forefront of combating climate change, and it’s imperative that we equip it with the skilled professionals it needs to balance the demands of delivering a greener future while meeting ever-increasing energy consumption.
Attracting talented people to this critical sector is paramount and the demand for skilled professionals has never been higher. Industry surveys have revealed significant shortages as competition for skills grows with increasing activity across energy sectors and in national infrastructure projects.
OEUK’s Skills summit in Edinburgh will convene stakeholders from across energy sectors, trade bodies, skills organisations and the education sector together with the UK government and devolved parliaments to address the challenge collaboratively. The summit will provide an arena to identify collective actions to address the shared challenge of skills shortages both now and as the offshore energy industry transitions to a low carbon energy system.
