About this taskgroup

To retain and attract the necessary skills to deliver Roadmap 2035 and beyond, it is key that that the oil and gas industry addresses the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) agenda. The D&I business case is also proven with research confirming companies in the top quartile for gender or racial and ethnic diversity are more likely to have better financial returns.

Our industry continues to be dogged by a negative perception that it is a dirty, heavy engineering and male dominated one that is not dynamic enough to address the contemporary and future challenges, including climate change and net zero. This belief clouds some of the brilliant achievements of this industry to date and also doesn’t give credit to the opportunities and variety that do in fact exist, albeit not a given.

Therefore, the aim of our D&I focus is to highlight some of the great work that is going on; identify gaps that exist; and work across industry to enable a culture of behaviours that embraces all aspects of D&I at every opportunity. A D&I Taskgroup is to be set up of industry D&I champions to deliver on the key objectives and to establish and guide an all energy network in support.
