Deltic Energy has accepted one of the two licences provisionally awarded by the North Sea Transition Authority in Tranche 3 of the UK’s 33rd licensing round, it said July 8.
Licence P2672 is just to the west of the once-major West Sole gas field and contains the Pharos and Teviot discoveries. The first step for Deltic is to reprocess legacy 3D seismic data to improve reservoir imaging at low cost, it said.
The Blackadder project has many analogous attributes to the Selene prospect, where the reworking of legacy datasets has unearthed a potential missed pay opportunity of material scale, Deltic said. It is also near pipelines that have spare capacity.
