The top North Sea decommissioning player has been revealed today as the Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) Award for Excellence in Decommissioning, sponsored by the The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), was revealed.

EnQuest has been named the North Sea’s leading light on decommissioning at a gala dinner, sponsored by Well-Safe Solutions, at OEUK’s annual Offshore Decommissioning Conference.

The group were hailed for their excellent work on the Northern Producer Offstation Project.

As an organisation, EnQuest is committed to sharing learnings and best practices – internally and with fellow operators and the supply chain.

As the first fields owned by EnQuest, the redevelopment of the Dons area was not only a great example of EnQuest’s ability to create value, but also, it illustrated the significance of engagement and collaboration between all parties focused on a common goal.

EnQuest knows that excellence in decommissioning performance is not easy, but with industry-wide collaboration and learning, they are confident that great strides can be made in terms of safe, efficient and environmentally sound planning and execution of complex projects.

Commenting on the announcement, OEUK Decommissioning Manager Ricky Thomson, said: “The nominations and finalists for this award were a real reflection of the great talent and expertise of our energy communities – those that personify the innovation the North Sea decommissioning sector has become known for.

“I am delighted to see this recognition of their accomplishments in decommissioning, all while driving industry toward its net zero goals and transitioning the UK towards a sustainable future.”

The Excellence in Decommissioning Award was presented by Chris Claydon, CEO of the ECITB, who said: “Congratulations to the winners EnQuest for their commitment to learning and their adoption of collaborative working methods to improve project performance.

“As industry-led skills body for engineering construction, the ECITB understands the vital part decommissioning will play in reaching net zero and the just transition.

“A big thank you to OEUK for hosting this Offshore Decommissioning Conference which helps to drive innovation and improvement in the discipline.”
