The OEUK Legal Conference returns to Aberdeen this September for the first time in three years, to discuss the legal opportunities and challenges the much-changed sector faces.
Offshore Energies UK, the leading trade body for the UK’s integrating offshore energies industry, has today announced the return of its annual Legal Conference, sponsored by Gilson Gray LLP and supporting sponsor Clyde & Co LLP, which will be held on Thursday 29 September at Ardoe House Hotel in Aberdeen.
Three years since the conference was last held in person, the industry has continued to change at pace. OEUK too has changed, with an expanded remit into low carbon energy such as wind and hydrogen. For delegates, this year’s conference provides a fantastic opportunity to discuss the opportunities facing the sector, and the effects they are having on our legal and commercial community.
A host of expert industry speakers and sessions have been announced, including OEUK’s Francesca Bell who chairs a session on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Criteria, a panel session with industry experts on the opportunities and challenges of decommissioning in the UKCS, and a session from Adam Woodhall, Chief Executive from Lawyers for Net Zero. The conference concludes with a dinner, which includes a pre-dinner speech from Professor Greg Gordon, Professor of Law and Head of School of Law at Aberdeen University.
Commenting, OEUK’s Legal Manager Sam Dunkley said:
“This year’s conference and dinner provides a dedicated arena for both in-house and private practice lawyers of all levels and specialist contractors to network and share thoughts with industry-leading legal colleagues.
“After a three-year absence, it will be fantastic to once again meet in person with colleagues from across the offshore energies sector to explore the changes to our evolving industry and how they affect our community.”
Commenting, Calum Crighton, Partner at Gilson Gray LLP said:
“The Legal Conference has for years been the main coming together of Oil & Gas lawyers to share best practice, lessons and wisdom from across the industry. This year feels like a new beginning as it will be the first opportunity for the event to be held in person since the focus has shifted beyond just oil & gas and into the full mix of offshore energies.
We are immensely proud to be sponsoring the event and I, personally, am hugely looking forward to getting back together with the wider industry community again.”
