Well-Safe Solutions appoints new subsurface lead from Shell

12 January 2022

Well decommissioning company Well-Safe Solutions has appointed Mark Davison as its subsurface team lead, the Aberdeen-based company said January 12. The former executive at Shell’s global geomechanics team joins as Well-Safe Solutions expands its services to all aspects of subsurface plug and abandonment (P&A) design.

Davison has worked in Europe, Africa, North America and Australasia for oil field service companies and oil and gas producers.

Well-Safe Solutions’ director of well abandonment James Richards said: “Mark’s compelling track record make him a clear fit for Well-Safe Solutions, and we’re thrilled to welcome him into his new role.”

More operators want better understanding of where and why subsurface barriers should be set. Finding an appropriate subsurface isolation strategy is a vital but often misunderstood part of P&A planning, the company said.

Davison (left), who has three patents relating to well completion and production engineering to his name, said: “Well-Safe Solutions continues to go from strength to strength, and with the Well-Safe Guardian embarking on a considerable scope of work this year, I’m delighted to have joined the team at such an exciting period of progress….Together with my new colleagues, I look forward to developing robust well plug and abandonment and subsurface isolation strategies.”
