Neptune Energy, alongside joint venture partners BP and JAPEX, have awarded Valaris a contract to provide a heavy-duty jack-up drilling rig for the Seagull oil development.
Valaris will provide the Rowan Gorilla VI to drill four firm wells for the project, located in the central North Sea. The approximately 18-month drilling campaign is scheduled to start in Q3 2020, after its field development plan (FDP) was approved by the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) in March this year.
The high-pressure, high-temperature development is expected to initially produce around 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (80% oil) across its ten-year design life. Proved plus probable gross reserves are estimated at 50 million boe. Read more…
