The potential of the UK Continental Shelf with the right interventions will come under scrutiny at a key industry conference in Aberdeen on Tuesday (June 6).
Vision 2035 – which sets out the opportunity for the basin and supply chain over the next two decades – is the topic of a panel session at the Oil & Gas UK event, which has Total E&P UK Limited as its principal sponsor.
Supply chain resilience; investment stimulation; health, safety and the environment, efficiency and the sector’s role in an industrial strategy are also among talks at the Facing the Future themed conference. The event will bring experts from academia, economic development agencies, trade bodies and other sectors together with upstream industry leaders.
Stephen Marcos Jones, Oil & Gas UK’s director of business excellence, said: “We are starting to see some green shoots of recovery, depending on where you are in the supply chain. Now is the right time for the industry to come together to understand how Vision 2035 resonates with different parts of the sector – and to understand what facing the future will require.”
Shell’s Steve Phimister will chair the Vision 2035 session with input from Mike Tholen, Oil & Gas UK; Jennifer Craw, Opportunity North East (ONE); Luca Corradi, Oil and Gas Technology Centre, and Simon Gray from the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR).
Elisabeth Proust of Total E&P UK will lead the industrial strategy session which includes perspectives from Paul de Leeuw, Oil and Gas Institute (OGIC); Melfort Campbell, Imes Group and Sam Gomersall of management consultancy, Pale Blue Dot Energy.
Craig Wiggins, Aker Solutions, will chair talks on the tools and methods companies can use to develop supply chain resilience. He will be joined by Andy Brown, Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB); Johan van Spronsen, Stork; Bob Donnelly, from asset integrity specialists, Return to Scene, and Fergus McCann also from Aker Solutions.
Phil Kirk of Chrysaor will lead the investment stimulation session which includes Rhodri Thomas of Wood Mackenzie; Jon Clark of EY and Andy Hessell of CATS Management Limited, who’ll be exploring what more can be done to attract fresh capital into the UK Continental Shelf.
As chair of industry’s Efficiency Task Force, Petrofac’s Walter Thain will lead talks on how companies can develop a competitive advantage. Also involved are Granville Clutterbuck, Nexen Petroleum U.K.; Alex Vaughan, Costain and Nicky Mason, Amec Foster Wheeler.
Ray Riddoch, Nexen Petroleum U.K will chair the Health, Safety and the Environment session with input from Chris Flint from the Health and Safety Executive and Andy Taylor, Offshore Environmental Inspectorate.
