Mike Tholen, Oil & Gas UK’s upstream policy director, said:
“Clair Ridge is the largest project currently in development on the UKCS and will be onstream later this year; and is part of the Clair field which is one of the largest resources in the UK sector of the North Sea. By increasing its stake in the field, BP is sending a clear vote of confidence in the North Sea and the opportunities it continues to present to investors.
Investment is picking up in the basin, with more investments expected to be announced in coming months across a range of opportunities. It is imperative that the whole industry continues to build on current efficiency improvements and develop deeper collaboration to sustain our competitiveness and to unlock future opportunities for the industry.
