Global safety and skills agency for the offshore energy industry OPITO has enabled training centres to offer helicopter underwater escape training (HUET) to offshore workers, it said July 1.
An OPITO-approved HUET standard will give offshore workers the assurance of being equipped to deal with relevant and extensive helicopter-related scenarios.
The centres may offer HUET as a standalone course, irrespective of offering full basic offshore safety induction and emergency training (BOSIET) on site.
Taken with other courses, this will result in increased mobility and tailored training across different parts of the energy sector, OPITO said.
