Proserv’s ECG™ Boosts Reliability at Hywind Scotland

21 January 2026

Proserv’s Electro Cable Guard (ECG™) system is now fully operational at Hywind Scotland, the world’s first commercial floating offshore wind farm, operated by Equinor with partner Masdar. Located off Peterhead, the development supplies clean power to around 35,000 UK homes, and the deployment marks the first use of Proserv’s UK-led monitoring technology in a floating wind environment.

Delivered by Proserv teams in Great Yarmouth with support from Trondheim, ECG provides continuous, real-time electrical and thermal condition monitoring of subsea cables and terminations. This insight strengthens system resilience, reduces unplanned outages, and supports optimised maintenance strategies as floating wind scales into more demanding locations.

Proserv developed and commercialised ECG in partnership with Synaptec and BPP Cable Solutions, with additional backing from the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Equinor and ScottishPower Renewables – positioning the technology as a key contributor to the sector’s reliability and long-term growth.
