Global energy consultancy Xodus has delivered a future-looking guide on the jobs that will be required to deliver a major Australian renewable energy project, it said February 27.
Marinus Link is a proposed two-way undersea and underground electricity and data interconnector that will connect the island of Tasmania with the state of Victoria.
Now at the design and approvals phase, the project is scheduled to get underway in 2026, creating up to 3,300 direct and indirect jobs. It could also deliver about A$3.9bn in economic stimulus for the two states.
Xodus mapped the construction and operations opportunities for the local workforce. The resulting guide gives figures broken down by sector and discipline area, including qualifications and training requirements.
Xodus said the guide covered offshore wind, hydrogen and subsea interconnectors, “providing tangible examples of the typical roles that will be available to the local workforce.”
