Boskalis Subsea Services recently welcomed Michael Shanks, the UK Minister for Energy, to its Westhill headquarters to engage in discussions pertaining to the future of energy in Aberdeen and the North Sea.
During the visit, Stuart Cameron (MD) outlined the importance of making the energy industry more attractive to young people considering their career options. Highlighting the continuing opportunities in one of the world’s most mature offshore basins, Cameron stressed that the North Sea still has a vital role to play in the UK’s energy mix. Cameron also urged the Minister to reconsider the government’s stance on halting new drilling in the North Sea, warning of the negative impacts such a policy is already having.
“The Minister’s visit was very welcome. It gave us the opportunity to highlight the critical issues facing both our industry and the Aberdeen region. We remain confident that the North Sea will continue to offer exciting employment opportunities for years to come.” – Stuart Cameron, Boskalis Subsea Services Managing Director
