Floating production and subsea specialist Crondall Energy is commencing a study to examine internal pipeline coatings, with the aim of increasing understanding of potential flow assurance benefits. Led by Crondall’s flow assurance team in Aberdeen, the study will be conducted in partnership with Heriot-Watt University, the Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) and the Oil & Gas Innovation Centre (OGIC).
Computational models will be developed to explore polymeric coating behaviour, followed an experimental phase that will focus on correlating wax deposition behaviour with coating surface parameters and flow characteristics under operating conditions.
