This updated guidance provides a structured framework for managing and reducing the risk of collisions between vessels and offshore installations on the UK Continental Shelf. Developed for duty holders, marine specialists and offshore management teams, the guidance supports the identification, assessment and control of ship collision risks throughout offshore operations.
It sets out a comprehensive collision risk management approach, covering hazard identification, risk assessment, detection and monitoring, collision avoidance strategies and emergency response arrangements. The guidance addresses risks associated with passing vessels, attending vessels and offtake tankers, and includes practical direction on traffic management, vessel assurance, detection equipment, drills and audits.
A key reference for strengthening marine safety, protecting personnel and assets, and demonstrating good practice in high-hazard offshore environments.
