Denmark’s Maersk Training has agreed to establish a state-of-the-art training centre in Japan for Nagasaki Marine Industry Cluster Promotion Association (NaMICPA). The two signed a consultancy agreement in late September. The preparation for the training centre was funded by The Nippon Foundation.
The collaboration is the next step in securing NaMICPA as the region’s leader in technical training programs certified by the Global Wind Organisation. It is Maersk Training’s second agreement with a Japanese entity in a month.
The aim is for the training centre to be operational by August 2024. It will support Japan’s ambitious targets for offshore wind. Japan, which is heavily reliant on energy imports with almost no oil and gas resources of its own, aims to increase renewable energy production.
