AREG Calls on Energy Secretary to Engage with Northeast Renewable Energy Businesses

6 August 2026

OEUK member Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group (AREG) has invited Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh to meet the companies driving renewable energy development and innovation in the Northeast of Scotland.

In letters to the Prime Minister, Chancellor and Energy Secretary, AREG highlighted the region’s role in supporting the UK’s energy security, economic growth and net zero ambitions, while calling for close collaboration between industry and government to deliver a successful energy transition.

Representing more than 260 member companies, AREG emphasised the need for policies that encourage investment, accelerate project delivery, protect jobs and provide long-term certainty for businesses developing low-carbon energy technologies.

AREG says the Northeast has the skills, infrastructure, technology and expertise needed to play a leading role in the UK’s future energy system and is ready to support the next phase of the energy transition.
