The Stena Carron drillship has received DNV’s Abate(P) notation, in recognition of Stena Drilling’s best practices to cut greenhouse gas emissions. This is the second such award for a ship in Stena Drilling’s fleet and reflects the company’s efforts to implement “advanced technical and operational measures,” the company said mid-March.
The award reinforces Stena Drilling’s ambitious emissions reduction goals as part of its sustainability objectives. These include real-time energy and emission monitoring; enhanced control of large pumps to optimise power demand; and new reverse-osmosis freshwater production plants and electric lube oil heaters.
Stena Drilling has also adopted a certified ISO 50001 energy management system across the fleet, as part of our ongoing strategy to reduce our carbon footprint.
