Industry breakfast at All Energy 2024 deepens offshore wind insight

29 April 2024

Fresh updates on the role offshore wind could play in delivering the energy transition will be shared by OEUK at a breakfast briefing at the All-Energy conference in Glasgow’s Scottish Exhibition Centre on May 15.

With the UK aiming to more than treble its offshore wind capacity to 50GW by 2030, the potential opportunity for the economy is significant. Attendees at the event sponsored by Deloitte will hear an analysis of the latest data and forecast from OEUK’s Wind & Renewables Manager, Thibaut Cheret.

Compiled to deepen insight into the UK market for offshore wind and highlighting industry challenges, OEUK’s new insight report adds to the growing body of knowledge about the opportunities the energy transition presents to the UK oil and gas supply chain, including recent research by Rystad Energy

Thibaut Cheret, OEUK’s Wind & Renewables Manager, said:
“The UK’s ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 will be the biggest engineering project this country has ever seen. With our industry’s heritage and experience of operating deepwater projects, we have the capabilities to directly reduce emissions from oil and gas operations and boost further innovation to potentially secure a significant share of the Offshore Wind market. This is key to the successful homegrown energy transition OEUK is asking policymakers to choose for the UK.”

Marie Lucey, Renewable Energy M&A Partner at Deloitte, said:
“Offshore Wind targets in the UK are ambitious, and the scale of investment necessary to deliver on these is unprecedented. 2024 is a critical year for the sector, and so I’m very much looking forward to a productive discussion on the role offshore wind could play in helping to deliver the energy transition.

Hosted by OEUK’s chief executive David Whitehouse, the event will include a presentation of the new offshore wind insight followed by a panel session chaired by Mike Tholen, Sustainability and Policy Director and featuring the following industry experts:

  • Marie Lucy, Renewable Energy M&A Partner, Deloitte
  • Claire Tindle, Energy Offtake Manager, Flotation Energy
  • Steve Wilson, Director of Capital Projects – Offshore, SSE Renewables
  • Liam Macintyre, Strategy Director – UK & Global IRM Region, Subsea7
  • Sian Lloyd Rees, Supply Chain Champion
