This report provides an overview of health and safety performance across the UK offshore energy sector during 2024, using data from OEUK members and industry partners.

It covers key areas including process safety, personal safety, occupational health and offshore aviation. No major hydrocarbon releases were reported for the fifth consecutive year, while maintenance backlog hours continued to fall, reflecting ongoing focus on asset integrity. However, personal injury rates increased in 2024, with slips, trips and falls remaining the most common cause of injury.

The report also highlights trends in workforce health and offshore aviation. Nearly 200,000 medical assessments were completed in 2024, with injuries becoming the leading cause of medical evacuation. The UK offshore helicopter sector maintained its world leading safety record, with no fatal or reportable accidents.

This report is a key reference for understanding current health and safety performance and priorities across the offshore energy sector. For further information, contact the OEUK HSE and Operations team at [email protected].
