Proserv/Trendsetter tech helps Woodside to early GoM oil

Global controls technology company Proserv and Trendsetter Engineering have helped Woodside Energy to bring an extension well on stream in the US Gulf five months earlier than expected.

In a November 2 announcement, Proserv it said that first oil from the Shenzi North extension project (image below, (c) Woodside) was targeted for Q1 2024. But the two subsea technology experts agreed in late 2021 to bring their skills together. This enabled the operator to tie a new, high pressure well into the existing lower pressure infrastructure.

Trendsetter’s system saved time and money as  there was no need for new, high pressure rated infrastructure in the well: the proprietary technology was integrated as a “plug and play” concept and first oil flowed in September.

Proserv’s sister company Gilmore supplied high reliability quick exhaust valves to its technology innovation alongside Trendsetter.
