Aberdeen-based Return To Scene (R2S), part of James Fisher and Sons plc, has secured a significant funding award from the Oil & Gas Technology Centre (OGTC) to kickstart development of its visual positioning system, R2S VPS.
R2S VPS technology will allow people and machines to identify their location on complex offshore assets via data captured from mobile devices or body-worn cameras. Successful delivery will propel automation, improve offshore HSE and deliver efficiency gains measured in hundreds of millions of pounds.
The project – the largest to have been approved by the OGTC’s Digital Solutions Centre to date – brings together a strong and innovative team that includes R2S’ own development team, industry partner BP, technical support from Microsoft, as well as software developer Codify, AR for enterprise specialist Mozenix and leading cloud consultants Pulsant.
