International engineering and contracting group Semco Maritime has agreed to buy German Wind Multiplikator, it said June 1. The combined service business will have 455 employees operating across the entire offshore wind service value chain.
Multiplikator manages offshore wind farms and projects and offers engineering and consulting services. Included in the deal is its subsidiary Offshore Wind Solutions. No mention was made of the price tag in the Semco Maritime statement.
Semco Maritime wants to leverage growth opportunities in the offshore wind market, which is expected to quadruple by 2030. Its aim is to become the global leader for large renewable infrastructure projects and in operations and maintenance of offshore wind farms in particular.
