Sodexo UK & Ireland has seen its scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions fall by a third as of end-2022 since its baseline year of 2017, it said January 23. This is over 300,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent and the company is on track to meet its near-term target, the facilities management company said.
Sodexo reviewed its 2017 baseline – a practice recommended by SBTi – to give a more accurate picture of a company’s carbon footprint.
Sodexo joined the Climate Group’s RE100 initiative and committed to switching to 100% renewable electricity globally by 2025 at its directly controlled sites. In the UK this stands now at 92%.
Sodexo said: “Despite the progress we have undoubtedly made, we know there is a way to go and that it is not about mitigation, it’s about adaptation – organisations need to consider how they do business to be able to meet their commitments and make an impact.”
