Published by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) and Step Change in Safety, this guidance outlines the rules and safety measures for carrying Portable Electronic Devices (PEDs) when travelling offshore by helicopter. Developed in consultation with duty holders, helicopter operators and the aviation regulator, it aims to minimise the fire risk associated with lithium-ion batteries and ensure passenger safety.

The guidance explains permitted items, packaging requirements and safe transport procedures for devices such as laptops, tablets, phones, smartwatches, e-cigarettes and power banks. It also highlights the importance of limiting non-essential PEDs and ensuring all devices are powered down and appropriately stored.
