About this group

The Oil Spill Response Technical Group allows specialists from member companies to exchange technical knowledge, share experiences and lessons learned, assess potential environmental impacts, and provide informed feedback on guidance related to pollution prevention and control in offshore oil and gas operations.

The membership is open to all OEUK members who have the relevant technical expertise and knowledge of oil spill response and preparedness.

Objectives

  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of an effective, robust and sustainable oil spill response capability on the UKCS.
  • Reviewing and recommending response strategies relevant to the UKCS, taking global knowledge into account through active monitoring.
  • Maintaining liaison between industry, regulators, nature conservation bodies, response providers, specialists and academia.
  • Creating and resourcing task finish groups as required.

Note: The remit of the OSR TG does not include the capping or containment of flowing wells. This remains within the remit of the OEUK Well Life Cycle Practices Forum.
