Neptune Energy has welcomed the government’s decision to widen the gas entry specification limit. This will enable more North Sea gas to enter the country’s National Transmission System (NTS) and do away with present system of blending outside the national transmission system.
In a March 20 statement, UK country head Alan Muirhead, said the change, which will take effect in two years’ time, will remove decades-old constraints on the energy industry. This will enable Neptune to export more gas from its major gas producing Cygnus facility in the UK southern North Sea. It is capable of supplying 6% of the UK’s gas demand – enough to heat 2mn homes – and save on higher-carbon and less secure imports.
