Bilfinger UK has won a “substantial contract” with Mitsubishi Chemical UK at the Saltend Chemical Park in East Yorkshire and the work will start immediately, it said in a May 13 statement. The award plays to Bilfinger’s strengths in intelligent construction and sustainable project execution, as it will build a production line alongside the existing plant. It produces speciality chemical Soarnol, a high-performance polymer.
Bilfinger will install several thousand tonnes of structural steel, make several kilometres of pipe and deploy heavy lifts.
Bilfinger’s relationship with that site goes back several decades and its familiarity with the plant will add significant value to the project. It said: “Our extensive experience on the Mitsubishi site and our reputation for high-quality work have positioned us well for this exciting opportunity.”
