Deadline approaches for Offshore Safety Awards nominations

It’s the final countdown for submitting nominations to the Offshore Safety Awards with June 27 set as the deadline for entries in six different categories.

Jointly hosted by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) and Step Change in Safety with Harbour Energy as principal sponsor, the awards champion companies and people going above and beyond expectations to ensure safe operations on the UK Continental Shelf. For the first time since 2019, the event takes place in a physical format on 8 September at P&J Live, Aberdeen.

Mark Wilson, OEUK’s Health, Safety and Environment Director said:

“Over the past couple of years, the impact of Covid-19 has brought new and different challenges to the industry alongside our daily focus on making the North Sea as safe as it can be.  There’s been some excellent work undertaken by people both onshore and offshore to help us maintain high standards of safety performance and we’re keen to encourage more nominations to ensure that achieves wider recognition.”

The Offshore Safety Awards categories are:

  • Maritime Safety -for an individual(s) or team demonstrating a passion for safety, leading by example, and continuously striving for safe operations through establishing a positive safety culture within in a maritime environment.
  • Operational Integrity – for an individual(s) or a team helping to influence or improve a process system for risk management, system efficiency, reliability and/or operability.
  • Safety Representative of the Year – recognises an enthusiastic and committed elected Safety Representative who demonstrably influenced the safety agenda, culture and or behaviours at their worksite.
  • Sharing and Learning • for the individual(s) or team who can demonstrate how they actively collaborated, influenced or enhanced a learning and sharing safety culture within their company, place of work or within OEUK and or Step Change in Safety.
  • Welfare and Wellbeing -for individual(s) or a team actively engaged in improving their worksite and or a company taking an innovative approach to employee welfare and wellbeing including mental and or physical wellbeing, and the working environment.
  • Workforce Engagement – individual(s) or a team actively engaged with co-workers on safety matters to improve the safety culture and or performance at their worksite or within their company

Nominations must be submitted by Monday June 27 with the shortlist being published at the end of July. All finalists will have the opportunity to attend the Offshore Safety Awards where they will share their award submission, allowing the audience to decide who they deem to be the winner through an interactive vote.
