Ecosse IP raises the bar: lifting system is a game changer

Innovative offshore lifting technology not only represents a value-adding proposition – it also demonstrates the problem-solving talents inherent in the supply chain.

The Challenge

Introducing a cost-effective alternative to deploying surface-lift vessels for subsea removal campaigns.
Reliance on heavy-lift vessels, uncertainty over prevailing weather conditions, and cost-efficiency considerations can be limiting factors when sourcing an offshore lifting solution.

The Response:

Ecosse IP has built on its track record of innovation by designing and engineering a safe, robust and highly controllable lifting system.

The ground-breaking Ambient Lifter technology is based on a framed pipe coil configuration – using air as buoyancy and water as ballast – devised to lift, lower or manoeuvre any subsea object.

It can be used standalone or as part of an end-to-end subsea lifting solution across various applications – including oil & gas, subsea construction, decommissioning, offshore floating wind and salvage.
The Ambient Lifter can be launched from a low-cost anchor handler vessel or towed to the site using a tug, negating the requirement for an expensive crane or heavy lift vessel.
Devised as a modular unit, it can be used with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to multiply their lift capability, or it can be deployed in various configurations.

The Result:

The Ambient Lifter has been designed to:
• multiply the lift factor of an ROV by a factor of 20

• handle a diverse range of weights, from 1Te to thousands of tonnes

• drive operational savings of up to 40% when compared to conventional methods

• operate in varying sea states and significantly reduce weather window risk.

• reduce the need for divers
