Danish Maersk Training and the subsidiary of Japan’s Daikyo Kenki, Giraffework, have agreed to set up a training centre for the offshore wind industry together. The first of its kind in Japan, it will offer courses that meet Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standards.
Their centre, to be known as ‘GiraffeWork powered by Maersk Training’, will open in March 2024 in Kawasaki with a maximum annual capacity of 1,500 students. As well as a marine survival course adapted to the offshore wind power industry, it will also have an advanced rescue training course.
A month ago, Maersk training agreed to work on a GWO training centre in Nagasaki, to be operational by August 2024.
The agreement was signed in the Danish embassy in Tokyo.
