Energy major TotalEnergies has joined the Renewables for Subsea Power project off Scotland. A floating generator designed by Mocean Energy harnesses the energy; and Verlume supplies Halo, the intelligent subsea energy storage system (pictured below).
The fully operational project provides a cost-effective alternative to umbilical cables, which are carbon intensive. They also have long lead times.
