Neptune adds to accolades for plans to cut emissions

Neptune Energy has earned the UN ’s Environmental Programme (UNEP) Gold Standard, it said December 7. The award recognises Neptune’s detailed plans to cut methane emissions to near zero by 2030 and follows last year’s UNEP Gold award.

The Gold Standard was featured in the UN’s newly-published International Methane Emissions Observatory report which provides detailed global emissions data.

Neptune, whose European assets a said it had one of the lowest methane intensities in the oil and gas sector at 0.02% and was on track to achieve its target of near zero methane emissions by the end of this decade. “We are committed to transparent reporting. That includes employing the latest technologies and best practices to identify and reduce methane emissions, eliminate routine flaring and upgrade equipment at our sites.”
