Executive Summary
Mermaid Subsea Services operates under the Mermaid Maritime / Mermaid Group umbrella, with both international and UK operations.

- Decommissioning: well plugging & abandonment (P&A), wellhead severance, removal and disposal operations.

Challenge
This was a time-critical and environmentally sensitive project, requiring rapid mobilisation and precise execution.

Solution
The subsea campaign encompassed the internal and external severance of casing, conductor, guide pipe, and cement lines, alongside localised seabed excavation.
Key scope elements included the recovery of the CAN-Basic structure and comprehensive management of all associated materials. Additional activities involved responsible waste management of recovered components and backfill operations to prepare the site for post-decommissioning overtrawl survey.
Results
This complex and environmentally sensitive subsea campaign was executed under tight timelines, requiring precision, agility, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
Through the combined efforts of our offshore and onshore teams, the operation was delivered safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements. The successful recovery of the CAN-Basic structure, effective waste management, and completion of backfill operations for overtrawl survey reaffirm Mermaid Subsea Services’ capability to deliver high-performance decommissioning solutions in challenging North Sea conditions.
