Port of Aberdeen has appointed Naveed Qamar as its head of safety, health, environment and quality, it said August 31. The organisation is maintaining its laser like focus on safe operations at North Harbour and the construction of its major South Harbour expansion project which is stepping up activity.
Mr Qamar has held a range of senior positions in highly regulated and complex risk sector organisations, including Associated British Ports, Serco Dubai and FirstGroup.
The port’s CEO Bob Sanguinetti said the appointment was “a great endorsement of our strategy and ambition. [Naveed] has strong industry experience, as well as considerable knowledge of transport sectors which will complement the talent, expertise and capabilities in the port.”
Mr Qamar said he was “absolutely delighted” to be joining at “a very exciting time”. The port aims to become “Scotland’s premier net zero port at the heart of the nation’s energy transition.”
